Cinnamon Brioche French Toast
Deliciously custard-y toast guts with a crispy sugary crust. Perfection.
Ingredients -
Makes 2-3 toast piecesÂ
For the Toast:
2 tsp cinnamonÂ
2 tsp vanilla extractÂ
2 tsp almond extract (optional)Â
2 tbsp milkÂ
2 eggsÂ
3 tbsp butterÂ
2-3 slices bread (Brioche or japanese milk or plain white bread)Â
1 cup cute strawberries (optional)
1/2 cup whipped cream (optional)Â
Maple syrup to drizzleÂ
Cinnamon sugar:Â
1/3 cup white sugarÂ
1/3 cup granulated brown sugarÂ
2tsp cinnamonÂ
Method:Â
Slice your brioche into thick slices. You can use any type of butter bread or use my Brioche bread recipe!
Whisk together your eggs, milk, vanilla (or other flavouring) and cinnamon together to make a cinnamon custard to dunk your eggs in. Set aside.Â
Then, make your cinnamon sugar mixture with cinnamon and your two sugars. Mix well and set aside.Â
Prepare your bread by slicing and then dunking into the custard. Do so for a second or two until saturated but not too moist, otherwise the bread will fall apart.Â
Then dunk your bread into the cinnamon mixture and coat well.Â
Add in butter to a frying pan and cook 2-3 minutes for a slight crust and 4-5 for a crispy crust. Cook bread to preferred crispiness on a medium heat.
Cool bread on a wire rack to prevent sogginess.Â
Serve with strawberries, whipped cream and syrup for a truly indulgent experience.Â
